.She was born:July 10,1875
 
.She died on:May 18,1955 (age79)Daytona Beach, Florida
 
.Her parents were Samuel and Patsy Mclntosh Mcleod
 
she married Albertus Bethune in 1898 .
 
Her famliy back ground: One of seventeen children of Samuel and Pasty Mcleod former slaves.Mary worked in the cotton fields with her family.Married her husband an had one son.
 
Albertus left the family in 1907 and died in South Carolina in 1918.
 
Her desciption of accomplishments was that she founded out the Daytona Normal and industrial istitude for black girls (now Bethune-Cookman collage)In 1904 and as a president from 1904 -1942Mary McLeod Bethune Statue in Lincoln Park, Capitol Hill, Washington DC by jcolman.this one is McLeod Bethune Statue in Lincoln Park, Capitol Hill, Washington DC.

1863-Emcancipition proclamation announced the end of slavery.
 
1875-Mary Mcleod was born.
 
1884-Entered Miss Wilson school.
 
1887-entered Scotia Seminary.
 
1894-graduated from Scotia Seminary.
 
1895-Began teaching at Miss Wilsons school.
 
1898- Married Albertus Bethune.
 
1899-Had her first child.
 
1904-Opende Daytona Educational and Industrial school for negro girls.
 
1906- Her father died.
 
1909- National Association for the advancement for colored people.
 
1912- Frist student completed  eight grade at her school.
 
1919-Race Riots break out in Chicago.
 
1925-Bethune collage and cookman collage merge to form Bethune- Cookman
collage.
 
1935-Chose as Roosevelts special advisor on minority affairs.
 
1936-Was appointed as administrator of the office of Minority affairs.
 
1945-Franklin Delano Roosevelt dies.
 
1955- Mary died at the age of 80 in Daytona Beach, Forida.

Excellent teacher. A lot of her ideas for the classroom are still being used today. Great!
