Harriet Tubman was reverently called "Moses" by the hundreds slaves she helped to freedom and the thousands of others she inspired.

Her early life as a slave had been filled with abuse, at the age of 13, when she attempted to save another slave from punshiment, she was strunk in the head with a two-pound iron weight. She was also a runayway slave. When Harriet Tubman was 10 years old she led hundreds of of slaves to freedom along the Underground Railroad. But she later became a leader in the abolitionist movement.

Harriet Tubman was a true hero. I always wonder would America be the way it is today if people like her never existed.
